Building a Bridge Out of Words

I recently saw someone say that we must keep in mind with Trump conservatives that they are just people like we are and we need to treat them with respect and kindness as we would everyone else. 

I saw that and my eyes near to fell out of my head at the audacity of it all. 

Oh yes, we should treat one another with respect, with kindness, and with empathy. We are all part of the same family and the same tapestry. Without all of us, this entire world is doomed because it will take all of us to save it. 

As much as I believe those things, I also believe that the people that support Trump have no interest in any of that. 

They care only about themselves, their power, their money, and their fear. 

I am tired of hearing how Trump supporters simply have a different opinion when it’s more than that and always has been. 

These are the people that cheered an insurrection. 

That fly flags with curse words about the standing President. 

These are the people that brag they only believe in God, Guns, and Trump or Freedom or whatever else. That they can make guns that important in a hierarchy of things they believe in and stand for says more than enough. 

These are people that send thoughts and prayers to mass shootings and the military to the border. 

These people call for violence and cast aspersions and insults as if they are pennies for the poor. 

They make up lies to help themselves feel comforted.
They follow people who craft lies out of manure to retain power. 

And they eat it up. 

They love it. 

They threaten, they chastise, and they pout when they don’t get their way. 

I will never claim to be some golden one, some favored child, or someone above anyone. I also am not trying to advocate or vote to take people’s rights away, deny them their personhood, and force them to live as something they are not. 

I am not demanding women only do what I want them to and treat their bodies as I tell them to. 

I am not trying to hide history or lie about it. 

I don’t advocate book bans. 

I don’t make a policy out of revenge. 

Don’t tell me to respect Trump conservatives when they don’t respect themselves. They all but worship a man that lies with each breath and is more in love with himself than any romantic characters have been in the greatest of literature. 

Trump is the worst kind of person. 

And the villains he has given birth to are no better. 

The Republican party is made up of criminals, liars, rapists, and thieves. 

They believe only in wealth and power. 

The earth is dying, as witnessed by the monstrous hurricanes that are doing such devastation of late, but they don’t believe it. 

Their constituents are often poor and in the areas most affected by these storms and the leaders refuse aid and money then pretend as if it isn’t their fault. 

They are children throwing tantrums and their followers, their voters are no better. 

They would rather destroy everything if it means they can’t have full control and power. 

They’d rather watch the world burn if it means they need to grow or change. 

Their beliefs are as deep as a bumper sticker and faith as phony as a Trump Bible. 

Eff your feelings indeed. 

With so little love for anyone but those that look like themselves. 

Screaming about their faith when they don’t even follow it in anything but a modern way that simply tells them that if they give enough money to the church they can buy their way into Heaven. 

Jesus would be ashamed to have them following him. 

If they are the best Christianity has to offer then perhaps it is as was said so long ago, God is dead. 

I am tired of their fear mongering and threats and bullying. I am tired of good people being afraid to be who they are. I am sick to think of the world these people want for my daughter.

I am tired of them.

No, I won’t be kind to Trump conservatives because they turn that kindness into an insult. They will take the flame they are given to warm themselves and burn the house down they were offered to stay in. 

They don’t want coexistence, they want supremacy.

I have a bad feeling that this nation will follow Trump once more into the darkness this November and if that is the case then nation and world are lost as he will be as good as his word and take us all to Hell with him on this bloody revenge tour of his. We are so afraid of the world that we’d rather burn it down than save it. 

And you want me to show those people kindness.
