the grape dictator

We are in a time where it’s hard not to feel like you are crazy.
With the current political regime’s ‘flood the zone’ scheme in full swing, the national news not fully covering the scope of what’s happening, and the legion of wannabe influencers screaming into the void and saturating the world with misinformation and false outrage, it’s hard to keep your head straight.

Where do you even start?

The theft?

The cover-ups?

The abuses of power?

The lies?

Truly, you’d think that in any other time, with any other President, this would be an open and shut case of – get this person out of office. Except, that’s not the case.

The political right has wrapped itself in the American flag and declares anything they don’t agree with as anti-American, and anything that isn’t in their economic Bible anti-Christian. They don’t debate, discuss, or even argue in good faith, because they don’t have to.

Their supporters are desperate to be given permission to abuse, beat, and kill “them.”

What’s ironic, is how the term PC and Antifa have been perverted in the same way.

Political Correctness, as a modern term, has been perverted so that it means that people ‘can’t speak plain’ anymore, for ‘fear’ of being canceled. What it means, is people are expected to treat one another, and speak of one another with the bare minimum of respect. This means, not misgendering someone, or using slurs, or speaking or acting hateful toward people. I mean, it’s a complicated idea, right?

The idea that you can’t just call people a slur, and it be ‘ok’.

Because it isn’t.

At all.

The politicizing of the word Antifa is just…crazy.

That something that means ‘antifascist’ has now become synonymous with a fictional boogieman. They are a scary terrorist group that is paid by vague rich people to riot in cities when the liberals decide they are upset.

Sigh.

And it’s all smoke.

All mirrors.

All lies.

And people tune it all out. There is too much horror, too much madness, and it’s hard to know what to do. It is like trying to swallow a tub of fetid water.

We are beyond the precipice, and into the darkness.

Now that we are seeing young people starting to speak up, and to protest, we are entering a very scary time. With as violent as government agents have become, and as angry as conservatives are, we are seeing violent confrontations between teens and adults, and the more heated things get, the odds of it ending in a tragedy get even closer.

And oh, it’s all so alarmist, and it’s blowing things out of proportion, too many will say.

But when the President thumbs his nose at Supreme Court rulings against him, rails against his ‘enemies’ publicly, turns every chance he can get in front of a camera as an opportunity to stoke the fires of division, sends troops into cities to illegally round up people, and oh, there’s the whole matter of the Epstein files.

And what makes it all even scarier is that there’s the rising figure of the government investigating people that speak out about them.

For what purpose, we aren’t sure.

But we can infer, can’t we.?

We are far past the time this President has broken vows, laws, and social contracts. We are past the time he should have been removed from office. And we all know he will never be charged with a crime where he sees jail.

His supporters are happy.

No matter the cost, to the body and soul of the nation, to their towns, or even to their own finances and future.

Burn it all.

American Jesus is coming to take everyone to gated Heaven.

Sure, they tore up Eden and peed all over the garden, but they deserve salvation.

They earned it.

Because conservative Christian hate is righteous.

And their violence is holy.

And their golden Presidential messiah will do whatever it takes to make sure they have targets for their derision.

As serious as the President is in everything he says, even his humor coming at someone else’s expense, the least serious thing about him is the people who serve him. His appointees show a lack of experience, professionalism, and even understanding of their roles. It seems the only thing they can do is gloss over the President and hide the administration’s misdeeds under the rug.

A time will come when we finally have a reckoning of the sins of this administration, and it will shake the world.

And get a resounding yawn from the Right, because they don’t care.

The future is on fire, and so long as someone is punished, and it’s not them, that’s all that matters.

As long as a select few can get richer, that’s all that matters.

We have been conditioned to WANT consolidation of power, business, and money.

Just as we are conditioned to want to drop our heads and tune out when it comes to how difficult and scary these times are.

Easier to tune out than be overrun.

Easier to get a drink, or a pill, or scroll on your phone.

Easier to point the finger at people for real and purported sins, or to wrap yourself up in someone else’s drama.

And this is the world today.

As we threaten another needless war, insist we need to steal Greenland, hide information from the files of a sexual predator, steal and hide money, and on, and on, and on. And that doesn’t even deal with the paramilitary flooding our cities.

Are we great yet?

Our nation, built on the backs of generations of people from other lands, distant lands, some who came here to pursue dreams, and others who were dragged here against their will. We are what we are because of immigrants, and yet.

And yet.

And yet.

And it’s all so crazy, with a madman leading the way, insisting how healthy he is, and how sound of mind he is, as he consistently does things that make no sense.

The house is on fire, and the arsonist is among us.

It’s asking a lot to stay sane and dialed into what is happening in the world, but it’s our job.

It’s our duty.

Because we cannot forgive, we cannot forget, and we cannot give up, because the only way through Hell is forward. And we’re not even halfway through yet.
