Look, if you ever called BURIAL GROUND ‘The Nights of Terror’ then I got nothing for you. You just, man, you just…I got nothing.
Nights of Terror.
Oof.
Anyway.
I recently popped for the 4K import of this amazing monstrosity because I am INSANE. It’s so, so pretty for a movie where they didn’t do makeup on the hands or underarms of the zombies. It has a lot of grain and man alive the blood just POPS…like an eye or a liver.
You’ve heard of this, right?
BRO!
BURIAL GROUND is a lower-tier Italian zombie film with very little plot, lots of awkward sex, some creepy incest-y vibes, and some outstanding zombies. It’s dark, it’s horny, and it’s super gory. It has little logic but WHO CARES? This is a fun, outrageous movie with a ton of atmosphere and appeal.
The film follows three couples and a plus one man-child out to a remote Italian villa where they plan to get sexy and just sorta…hang out. Not long after they get their the couple are bumping their uglies and the kid is sorta…being a creep and out in the nearby crypt the old, dead peasants are waking because of reasons. As the dead rise and the excitement falls the group is forced to try to find a way to fight back and survive these zombies that can adapt and think. It’s going to be a terrifying night, that’s for sure.
The 4K works for all region players and looks better than you’d imagine. The film still looks soft and ‘dreamy’ but the gore and blood and super clear and the image is good. There are some commentaries on the 4K and the rest of the extras are on the Blu-ray disc, which is region locked – get out those region free players, kids!
This is a ridiculous film. The actor playing the ‘son’ in it is a grown man. You’ll understand why when you see the movie. It has so many WHAAAAT scenes that you cannot help but love this. It’s decently directed, mediocrely acted, and horribly dubbed. It’s so sincere though, and the zombies look so good and I LOVE that they seem to adapt to whatever the living folks think of to try to hold them off. It’s a fantastic ‘party’ movie and if you haven’t seen it and are a fan of zombie movies you owe it to yourself.
It doesn’t have to make sense when it’s this fun.
