It feels like it was a quiet year for me, but really, it wasn’t.
Not really.
I am still shocked at how people keep reaching out to be on the podcast. I am not sure if anyone is listening, but it’s fun to speak with people I’d have never met otherwise, and to help them tell their stories, and talk about their creations.
That’s pretty neat.
I am also happy to review movies from time to time before they are released. Again, I am seeing movies I may not have watched otherwise, and that’s always fun.
There was only one event this year, and while that feels disappointing, it was also as intended. Folks don’t come out to events as they used to, and focus more on large-scale shows, something that’s in my rearview. It was great to put on another film festival, and I was thrilled to have people come out for it and enjoy the films I chose.

The year saw the release of two books:
A New Liberty, an anthology of stories inspired by the current political state the country finds itself in. I loved gathering friends together for this work, and feel like it’s a fantastic fist raised in the air against the tyranny of today. Our release event had a nice turnout, and we raised a little money for Planned Parenthood, which is great.
I also released my own book: The Fallen God of Opal Bay. I really like the book, and its lead character, and it’s a fun, dark read for folks into that sort of thing. The book starts with a slap and ends with a kick in the ass, and I like that.
As with every year, there are a dozen things I wish I were able to do, projects never realized, but overall it was a good year, and I am proud of the things I was able to accomplish.
I think we all need to be gentle with ourselves. We can’t always get to everything, but if the things we do mean something to us, that matters. If we invest in ourselves, our passions, and our loved ones, that’s a pretty neat ledger to behold.
Let’s see what 2026 holds.
