“Be There/I Am Here“: “Two stories, one family. A brother seeking redemption.A sister searching for solace. Two stories. One family. Two falling stars cutting through the night. Take a journey through the darkness of the past, through the hardship of regret, and through the flames of the truth.”
Of all of my books, this is perhaps the strangest I have written, in that it’s a straight fiction novel, not really fitting in any genre. It’s a story I was very passionate about, and wanted to tell, and love how it turned out. It’s two tales in one, two sides of one story.
It’s a story of family, love, loss, and the price we pay for living our lives.
Of all of the books I have written, this one feels the most personal, which is why that’s me on the cover, living my best life.It is a biography, but, having a sibling, I understand how close and distant you are at the same time. Few people will ever know you as well as a sibling will, will have been there for the good and the bad, but you are both so focused on living your own lives, and creating your own identity outside of the family, and the book reflects that.
It’s at turns heartbreaking, and revelatory, and it’s one of the most beautiful things I have ever written.
