BOOK SPOTLIGHT: “Little O and the Storms”

Little O and the Storms“:

“Little O is a little girl who doesn’t like storms, especially the kind she finds at school every day. If she’s ever going to find some peace of mind, though, she’ll need to stand up to those storms and say – NO MORE, STORMS! NO MORE!”

I remember writing “Little O and the Storms” very clearly. A friend of my wife’s had a daughter who was being bullied for her afro-puff hair. Hearing that kids were making fun of her, I wrote this story as a way to reach her, encourage her, and let her know she should rock her puffs, no matter what. I wasn’t sure what she’d take from the story, but I was honored that she loved it and loved seeing her in it.

This is a book about a strong little girl facing storms at school in the form of bullies, but they’ll soon find she is far stronger than they can imagine.
