Or…
Lord I am a strange person.
I think it’s been established that I am a terribly odd fellow. We’re clear on that, right?
OK.
A couple of years ago, at the longest, I had a notion in mind for something I wanted to do. It was well after the “ice bucket challenge” had swept the world, and everyone had moved on. I am a huge fan of Stephen King and the notion of doing a “blood bucket challenge” popped into my head. I wasn’t sure what it’d look like, but it sounded fun.
But I never did it.
Still and all, the idea was there, nestled in my mind and ready to blossom.
Cut to the impending release of the new “Carrie” miniseries from Mike Flanagan. The idea popped back up and it felt like it was time. It was time to finally do something about this dumb idea of mine.
And here we are.
I decided that I got to be the prom queen, finally, and darn it, I had earned my crown, sash, and bucket of blood.
I had thought about enlisting my wife and daughter, but thought I could pull this off on my own. I had no interest in making this a public affair, and didn’t need my neighbors looking at me like I was even crazier than they already imagine. I set things up in my garage with the bonus being tht I had a lot of cardboard in there to catch the blood. I had gotten some stage blood but realized it wouldn’t be nearly enough so I mixed it with blood, got ready, and set things up.
I present you with my own “blood bucket challenge.”
