Missing the Point

For a culture so entrenched in pop culture, we Americans sure do miss the point. I suppose it's because we have learned to ingest things at a surface level, and not look deeper. I get it. It makes it hard to enjoy some things when you learn that they stand in opposition of your beliefs.… Continue reading Missing the Point

The Fall of America

Sitting in a hospital waiting room is sobering. You wait for someone to get a medical procedure done that will take hours, and cost thousands of dollars, and you hope that, when all is said and done, that they will get a clean bill of health.  You hope that there is good news and everyone moves on with their lives.  Until the bill comes.  And another bill.  And another.  And another.  And if they have something wrong? What then? You fight two battles, one for your health, and another for your survival. We have allowed the medical industry to hold all of us hostage, along with insurance companies, and survive at their pleasure. Last year, I went deep into debt trying to save the life of one of our dogs.  And that was a dog.  What if it was my child?

A Nation Gone Mad

In a world gone mad, all you can do is fight to keep your sanity.

Pay Attention, Children

One of the great tricks the devil knows is that we are easily fooled. We want to be fooled. We want our fears quelled, want to be soothed, and want to be told that everything is fine. And so the devil tells us the sweet lies and tells us to trust, trust, trust, and they… Continue reading Pay Attention, Children

The Mad King

Since first dipping his toes into politics, Donald Trump hasn’t been taken completely seriously. In my heart, I feel like Trump threw out the idea of running for President as a lark, but when the Republican party laughed at the idea he got mad because who were they, or anyone, to tell him he couldn’t… Continue reading The Mad King

The Great Change reading

Recently, some friends and I came together for the release of our anthology book, "A New Liberty." This book of protest poetry and stories was created and conceived after the re-election of Donald Trump to the presidency and was our response to it. All proceeds from the book will go to Planned Parenthood of Michigan.… Continue reading The Great Change reading

All We Have Is Our Voice

I Just Wanna Be Social

Can I just say that at this point in the timeline, I am a little shocked that NO ONE has managed to create competition with Facebook.  No one.  How is that possible? Facebook, a few years ago, was a nearly perfect animal. It was about connection and sharing.  Swell.  As it became embraced by businesses, it… Continue reading I Just Wanna Be Social

Indoctrinate

We Americans have been hearing about indoctrination for years now. We have heard how the “Left” is using education to indoctrinate the children to be gay, to be trans, to be weak, to be progressive, to be un-American, to be elitist, to be educated, and on and on. Children, like everyone else, are political pawns.… Continue reading Indoctrinate

FOUR

If you told me when I was, say, 18, that I would be where I am today, I am not sure how I’d react. I have seen and done things I’d never have dreamed of. If you told me I was going to have a daughter one day, well, odds are I’d collapse.  Never in… Continue reading FOUR

The Blood-Soaked Message

There is a point where screaming that the house is on fire loses its power. With the building full of smoke, and everyone weary of hearing that the smoldering embers that have never gone out are going to set the whole place ablaze, it’s hard to keep caring. There’s a point where a trauma response… Continue reading The Blood-Soaked Message
